France

Delays possible following blockade: the French postal service provider, La Poste, announced that it expected limited delays of up to 1 day following a blockade at the sorting center in Val-de-Reuil (Eure) on December 19.
Ireland

We would like to inform that An Post is experiencing congestion at the mail handling facility and delays in the handover process from airlines to the mail handling facility.
These problems are compounded by the high volume of incoming mail during peak season.
An Post is doing its hardest to process inbound mail as soon as they can and clear the backlog.
Further updates will follow once the situation improves.

Postal workers threaten to strike in Ermesinde: the SNTCT union is threatening a strike at postal offices in Ermesinde on December 20 after filing a complaint to the Valongo Labor Court following an employee’s dismissal.
Canada

Canada Post is currently experiencing delays in its processing capacity and delivery owing to high volumes of parcels imported into Canada as the peak season continues.
Canada Post apologizes for the inconvenience and will do everything possible to minimize the backlog.

Swissport workers may strike at Montreal airports: Media sources indicate that workers with Swissport Canada have threatened a walkout strike at Montreal-Trudeau and Montreal-Mirabel airports starting December 25. The workers are currently operating without a contract. Cargo and mail operations of Air Canada may be impacted by the strike.

Police launch operation against Correios thefts: Local media sources indicated on December 12 that Rio de Janeiro Civil Police, in conjunction with Federal Police, launched Operation Serra Alta against a postal cargo theft ring operational in the Zona Oeste of Rio de Janeiro. The ring is believed to be responsible for 20 thefts in the region.

Fog disrupts airmail movement: airmail shipments to and from Skopje International Airport were delayed on December 16 due to heavy fog in the area. Shipments are expected to be delayed by 24 to 48 hours in total.

Heavy snowfall impacts ground transport: On December 16, media sources reported that the National Weather Service expected heavy snowfall and strong winds to affect ground transportation in several states across the United States, including portions of central and east-central Missouri, south-central and southwest Illinois, south-central and southeast Kansas and south-central Indiana on December 16. Further disruptions due to slippery and snow-covered roads should be expected in the coming days as well.
