Protests affect ground and air traffic: protests have been affecting road and air traffic in Barcelona and Girona, with over 100 flights cancelled at El Prat Airport on October 14. Expect further disruptions as more protests are planned for the week.
Germany

Strike might disrupt air traffic: Media sources indicate that cabin crew labour union Ufo has called on its members to stage a strike between 6 am and 11 am local time on October 20, which could disrupt Lufthansa’s flight operations at Munich and Frankfurt Airport. Around 160 flights are expected to be affected by the strike.

Budapest Airport temporarily suspends flights:Â Budapest Airport in Hungary temporarily suspended flights for a second consecutive day following a drone detection in the area. Flight operations have reportedly resumed at around 9 pm local time on October 15.

Flooding caused by heavy rainfall due to Typhoon Hagibis has severely disrupted road traffic across Japan. Heavy rainfall and flood warnings remain in place for Nagano, Ibaraki, Saitama and Tochigi prefectures in the Kanto region, while about 52 rivers overflowed in the eastern part of Honshu.

Strong winds affect flights: Media sources report on October 17 that disruptions to flight operations have been occurring at Sydney and Melbourne airports in Australia due to strong winds. Numerous flight have been delayed, diverted or cancelled. Expect further disruptions as air traffic controllers plan to close runways at both airports in the coming hours.

Mexico – changes in customs policy

This is a reminder that the customs authority of Mexico has made changes to its customs policy concerning merchandise sent by mail. Postal items containing merchandise with a declared value of over 50 USD are subject to the payment of import taxes as determined by the customs authority. This rule has been applied from 1 March 2019.
